Fancied doing something a bit quicker than the current Igor kit, which I’ve got myself a bit unnecessarily bogged down with, and had the Nick Fury model from the excellent range of Dragon kits. Actually slightly nervous about this as there is so much black in his clothing. So did a little research and dropped a friend an email. Got some great advice and set about working on it.
Anyway, first off assembly and really simple. The coat is separate and can be removed and the arms fit in over this. So the whole thing can all come apart really cleanly for painting.
Pictures below are with absolutely no paint on it,. and just the plain vinyl.
Great likeness of Samuel L Jackson.
So made a start on the painting. The most interesting piece of advice I read was not to actually use black for anything. So started with a dark brown for the coat and dark grey for the suit.
Coat isn’t actually this brown but the artificial lighting seems to make it look more brown to the camera.
Coat had several washes of black over it, with more going into the folds of the coat.
Face as also been blocked in with an appropriate shade.
Then the suit has been drybrushed a little to bring out the contours a bit. Straps on the suit also painted in now (using black-with the eye patch this is the only bits that are actually black).
Face was given a wash with red and then a light brushing to bring out the contours. Don’t want to overwork it as bit nervous about screwing it up and it looks alright at the moment.
Not come out well in the photos but there is some extra red around the scarring. Eyeball blocked in for now awaiting final painting.
And with the final details painted in:
hink it’s a pretty good match to the poster for Ultronwith the dark grey jumpsuit:
Not too bad! Finishes in 3 sessions (one of which was pretty short).
Final pictures to come (waiting to do a photography session at some point).
